Let’s have some fun in the snow!
My favorite time of the year is around Christmas. Not only do I love all the presents but I also love snow!
I was so excited last Christmas morning when I awoke and found that it had snowed during the night and that it was a proper White Christmas. I immediately donned my warm clothes, hat, scarf and gloves and went outside to build a snowman.
My 25-year-old brother joined me and we ended up having a snowball fight! It was such a great day and really made my Christmas.
If snow is a regular occurrence in your part of the world then it would definitely be worth while to invest in some toys designed for the snow – this means that your children can have lots of fun in the snow!!
Wonderful children snow toys
One has got to love snow. I think it is the most amazing thing to look at and even better to play in!
I think the main benefit of getting children out into the snow and picking toys for them to enjoy is that it gets children out into the fresh air.
When it is a bit cold outside we have the tendency to stay inside. Yet, by getting the kids outside and having fun, you’ll be encouraging them to get active. It is great for kids to be outside in the fresh area and snow toys can help promote this.
There are many toys available that are not specifically for snow but children could use them in the snow and gets lots of fun out of them. This includes backhoes, which can be great fun. These can encourage manipulation and make believe play.
Children snow toys help kids to interact with each other. Snow bunkers and sliders encourage kids to play together. Learning to play with other children and to share is so important.
Points to note about
Children snow toys
- When there’s snow around children (and grown ups!) become very excited and most people love to get out and play in it. However, it can be dangerous as surfaces become slippy.
Safety equipment is needed
I think that the most important point to note with snow toys is that your child should wear safety equipment.
This should include elbow and kneepads and also a helmet. There is a good range of such equipment available nowadays, helping to keep your kids safe in the snow.
Proper supervision needs to be in place when children are playing with sledges in the snow. These toys can travel quite fast and can be dangerous to the child on it and those standing about.
It is important that an adult supervises play in the snow
- I think people get more boisterous when they are playing in snow. If you are engaging in any activity with your children in the snow please make sure that they are dressed appropriately and that they are wearing protective clothing.
- For toys like sledges, toboggans and sliders it is important that they are made from a durable and strong material. They should be able to withstand the normal bumps that come with kids playing in the snow.
- For younger kids, make sure you get one with a rope/ string so you are able to lead them around rather than pushing them down a hill. Most children snow toys are designed purely for fun and they are really great for this. Some, like the bunkers, will encourage other types of play.
- The toy bunkers, for example, will encourage kids to go into a world of their own imagination and promotes make believe play.
How do snowflakes form?
Snow is such an amazing thing. Pure snow is made up of snowflakes, which consist of between 2 and 200 separate snow crystals.
Snow crystals are formed around tiny bits of dirt that have been carried up into the atmosphere by the wind.
According to scientists there are four different shapes of snow crystals. The simplest shape is a long needle which is shaped like a spike.
The other shapes all have six sides but are slightly different from each other. One is a long, hollow column that is shaped like a six-sided prism. Another type is a thin, flat six-sided plate. Finally there are intricate, six-pointed stars!
Here are the Children Snow toys we have reviewed…Paricon Toddler Boggan Sleds
A great little tow toy for the younger kids in the house!
I really like this toy. It is great even for the younger members of the family as it is recommended even for kids over the age of 9 months.
A feature that I really like is that you can tow this kiddie boggan – that means that you are in control of how fast (or slow!) your child will go.
Looks wise, this is a lovely piece of equipment- it is purple and sleek in design. Your toddler will want to go out on the snow and play with it.
This toy is primarily designed for use on snow but it could be used on other surfaces – carpet, grass or sand. So it’s a very versatile toy. Your child can get use out of it even if there’s no snow.
I remember as a child, one of my favorite games was when my older brother used to pull me around the kitchen and garden in the laundry basket – excellent fun! This kiddie boggan is a more sophisticated version of my laundry basket!!
I love this toy.
It looks great, it’s very practical and great value .Check out these Boggan Sleds
Let’s build a snowman!
It may be a cliché but this is the best thing – the very best thing – to do when it snows.
Building a huge snowman is great fun and can take for hours, keeping the kids outside and entertained.
There is no real danger of anyone getting hurt and therefore kids can be left to their own devices.
I’ve found that childen respond to an element of a competition. Have a timed race (the biggest snowman in 30 minutes?) or choose the best/funniest etc.
This type of play is cheap (virtually free) and can be done in your own back yard! So, lets build a snowman!
A great looking toy that will appeal to your kids!
I love this foam slider! It looks amazing – the use of the bright green and jazzy designs will really appeal to children (and adults!!) These designs and colors mean that your child will be attracted to this toy and will enjoy using it and showing it off to their friends!
Due to the size of this particular slider, a wide age group can use it. Important if you have more than one child.
This toy may be safer than the harder sliders as it doesn’t seem to slide out from underneath a child.
This sled is very light and makes transport and storage easy. This makes it more appealing as children will be able to carry it around themselves.
This slider looks great and seems to be very safe. Well priced.
A great alternative to the usual snow toys.
This children snow toy really appeals to me. It is a great looking toy that your child will want to play in – try keeping them out of it!!
It is an inflatable snow bunker which measures 50”(l) x60”(w) x48”(h). It comes with a repair kit, which is great for those unexpected rips and tears.
A plus point for this type of children snow toy is that it is safe. You do not have to worry about your children falling off and hurting themselves.
This type of toy will really help your child engage in make believe play. They can pretend that they are marooned somewhere and this is their bunker – the make believe scenarios are endless.
So, if you are looking for something different for your child in the snow, I think this is a great and versatile toy. It need not be kept just for the snow and your child could get hours of endless fun from this bunker in the summer time.See thisSnow Bunker

Water fun for all the family.
What is the complete opposite of a snow toy? A toy which can be used outside when the weather is fine.
And the Wigglin’ Water Hose is just the toy! I absolutely love this toy as it is so much fun. It is one of those rare toys that can be fun for all the family – in fact, I think the grown ups will love it even more than the kids.
This toy encourages children to go outside and play. Too many toys today promote an indoor lifestyle with kids sat in front of a screen for hours. This toy will have children wanting to go outside and play.
This toy is tremendous fun when played with by more than one child. By encouraging your child to play with others, you are helping to develop their social skills.
This is a great looking toy that will have kids and adults alike running through the water. Just remember to apply the sunscreen when playing in the sun!
