Who makes Bob the Builder Toys?
Learn about your child’s favorite characters
Toddlers love toys based on their favorite characters. From stories, TV or films they all seem to have a special character with whom they identify or who is a hero for them in a special way.
Big Bird from Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Train , Bob the Builder and so many more favorite characters all play a special role in the lives of children in this age group.
You’ll want to know who Thomas’ friends are and who makes Bob the Builder toys etc.

What’s great about favorite characters?
Favorite characters can engage a child’s imagination in a unique way that she can then transfer to her play. Imaginative play is a part of learning and development. It’s wonderful to watch how a toddler pretends to be one of his favorite characters. They’ll make up songs and games inspired by these imaginary people.
Favorite character toys are marvellous for helping you and your toddler interact. You can watch the programmes together, read the stories and join in their games with their favorite character toys. Your youngster will be eager to explain who the various characters are and what they do – so ask plenty of questions.
A child’s self esteem and confidence can be boosted when they can reveal their detailed knowledge of their toy hero. They will point out the incredible detail they have picked up. Counting, identifying colors and shapes are all so much more fun when accompanied by their favorite friend.
Play Idea
Simple additions for favorite character toys.
My grandson and I recently read a Thomas the Train story together. In the story Thomas disobeyed a sign which was by the track and ended up in trouble.
Following the story we decided to play with my grandson’s wooden train set. Of course, we quickly got into replaying the story we had just read together.
I found a small oblong piece of card and using a coin drew two circles, one at each end. We colored in the circles with felt tipped pens – one red and one green. The word “Stop” was written under the red circle and “Go” beneath the green one. Folding the card in half allowed it to be stood up. We had our signal!
We had lots of fun pushing the train around the track. It had to stop if the signal was set to red and could only go when we changed it to green.
There was soon a demand that many more signals be made and very quickly our little railway became one of the most controlled on the planet.
Naturally the train soon became Thomas and the signals were not always obeyed. This usually resulted in catastrophe – the train left the track or crashed into a bridge!
These simple additions made a real difference when playing with this toy and are now a permanent add-on to the track.
Ask my grandson where the signals came from or, now, “Who makes Bob the Builder toys?” and he’ll answer – “Granddad “.
Checkpoints for favorite characters.
Once a toddler finds a particular favorite character there is always the chance of their being given duplicates or toys which do not add to their play experience.
Safety Warning
Don’t get distracted by favorite characters
In the excitement of finding a great favorite character toy it’s easy to forget to check whether the toy is age appropriate.
Do please refer to the manufacturer’s age recommendation.
For toddlers, it’s particularly important to check for small parts which pose a choking hazard.
Look out far additional members or friends of your favorite character. Accessories are usually a good choice and lend an extra dimension to existing toys.
Non-themed toys can always be used with favorite characters. Lego bricks are fun with Bob the Builder and extra train track, tunnels etc go with Thomas.
Themed clothing, bedding and furniture are also available.
Books , DVD’s, coloring pages and materials all add to the fun.
Walt Disney – a life filled with characters
I can’t think of anyone who is more associated with introducing favorite characters to our kids than Walt Disney.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois.
Walt’s early success with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy was followed by the production of the first full length cartoon feature film - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Success continued with Pinocchio, Dumbo and Bambi. The Disney cartoonists showed a unique talent in bringing these characters to life and creating personalities that enthralled children around the world.
Disney’s theme parks continue to be a place where toddlers can see their favorite characters “live”.
Disney Films maintain the traditions of their founder and have introduced the Lion King, Buzz Lightyear and Woody, Nemo and so many other favorite characters into our children’s lives.
"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse." Walt Disney
