Hello,
Many people have written to me asking – “Why are you called ‘Toy Shop’ ?”

So here’s the story……
“Toy Shop”
When I was three years old , my Mom and Dad nicknamed me “Toy Shop” – because I would never walk past a toy store without wanting to go in and look. Now I’m called “Granddad” and have to admit that I am still just as excited and intrigued by toys today as I was when aged three.
I have always enjoyed picking toys for my children and grandchildren. And helping them play with them too, of course!
In my work, I am lucky enough to travel around the world. I have lived in the United States, England, Canada, West Africa, Italy, Australia and many other places too. Wherever I go, I still can’t walk past a Toy Shop!
I found some really unique Wooden Blocks in Chile, South America and discovered a beautiful, well-designed toy Circus set in Italy. But the search for the Best Toddler Toys will continue – I am pleased to say.
It’s surprising but comforting that the same sort of toys appeal to children all around the world. I love to watch children play and to see the joy and learning experience a wonderful toy can bring.
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
–George Bernard Shaw
I believe that the very best “toys” for a toddler – are their Moms and Dads, Grandparents and Carers. Taking time to play with young children is a great gift – for the kids and for their grown ups as well.
So besides editing and writing reviews here at Toddler Educational Toys, I also publish the “Toddler Report” newsletter and contrbute to Kids Play Now – a site about games, crafts and play ideas for young children, that you can download and play straightaway!
Yours at play,
“The true object of all human life is play. Earth is a task garden; heaven is a playground.”
